WHAT ARE EPCS?

The Energy Performance Certificate or EPC is a report that rates the energy efficiency of properties (A to G on a graph). Only qualified Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) or Home Inspectors (HIs), who are registered with a government-approved accreditation scheme can prepare EPCs. The assessor will arrange an appointment at your convenience to visit your property and carry out the assessment, and it usually takes less than an hour.

The Energy Assessor will take measurements of the property and will need to look at various elements that affect its energy efficiency. They will check insulation, heating, double glazing, and all other elements contributing to energy efficiency. They may need access to the roof space in order to assess the extent of insulation. It will be worthwhile to share energy-saving proof, such as certificates or receipts, with the DEA.
